Highlight of the 59-lot collection was an 18ct gold tourmaline and diamond bracelet that sold for £6,000 in Halls | The Auction House’s £200,000 silver, jewellery and watches auction in Shrewsbury.
Top price of £9,500 went to a mid-20th century sapphire and diamond ring from a Shropshire vendor, while an Art Deco diamond ring from a Telford vendor made £4,800 and a Victorian 18ct gold and diamond set snake ring sold for £4,200 for a Shropshire vendor.
Highlights of the silver section were a canteen of cutlery from a Shrewsbury seller which sold for £3,600 and a Victorian four piece tea services from a Shifnal seller which found a buyer at £3,200.
Quality watches by noted makers were again in demand. A Breitling limited edition 'Lancaster' chronograph bracelet watch sold for £2,900 for a Shifnal vendor and a ladies 18ct gold Cartier tank quartz watch from a Malpas seller made £2,800.
“We are delighted with the auction result and the prices achieved for quality lots which reflects a buoyant market,” said Maryanne Lineker-Mobberley, Halls’ jewellery, silver bijouterie specialist.
“Watches by named makers and limited edition examples continue to sell well while, in the jewellery section, quality designer and period pieces remain in demand.
“The tourmaline and diamond bracelet was a good example of 1960s and ‘70s abstract design that is fashionable while large, gemstones of good colour continue to sell for competitive prices.”
