Two pairs of Chinese ceramic roof charms and a jade water coup valued at up to £3,000 that originally belonged to the famous Brodie Lodge Collection have been consigned to the next Asian Art Auction on the 5th November

The Brodie Lodge Collection, featured at the 1948 exhibition of Oriental art at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and at the Oriental Ceramic Society. The collection was assembled by Enid and Brodie Lodge whose father, Sir Oliver Lodge, patented a form of electric spark ignition, in the 1940s. The couple decided to invest the money they were making from porcelain spark plugs into Oriental porcelain.

Asian Art Specialist Rebecca Moss is interested to hear about collections of Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Turkish and Persian pieces, including ceramics, furniture, coral, jade, amber, bronze figures, paintings, textiles manuscripts and photograph albums and is pleased to arrange home visits to provide auction estimates. Rebecca is holding a free valuation day event on September 19 for Asian Art, “Valuation days provide a great opportunity for members of the public to discover the history as well as the true market value of Asian art items …these events are always exciting because you just don’t know what is going to turn up on the day.”
