The first step to selling with Halls Fine Art is to request a valuation. We offer free auction advice and estimates, without obligation, to help you make the right decision. We also offer a full valuation service to include sales, probate and insurance for silver, jewellery, pictures, works of art, ceramics, glass and furniture.
We have the following methods of providing advice about your items, whether you need a valuation for one item or a whole house full.
Email our specialists images of your items to receive a full auction valuation. We can value any number of items this way and if we feel that we need more information from you to make an accurate assessment we can then arrange to see you and your items in person. Once at our premises, drive around to the lobby at the rear of the building and call the number on the door to notify the team you are here. We ask all clients coming to Halls to wear a face mask and use sanitiser.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic all of our future valuation events have been suspended. Our specialists have adapted accordingly and are working hard, albeit under difference circumstances, to ensure we still offer a full and comprehensive service. You may require a specialist to visit your home if you have a substantial collection and the items are too large to transport. We are allowed to continue to visit clients to carry out sale, probate and insurance valuations, just as estate agents are, whilst complying with government rules and regulations. Please call 01743 450 700 to book a valuation visit with one of our team. We provide an informal, verbal valuation and advice about selling at auction free of charge.
To get your items to our salerooms small items can usually be collected by our team of valuers either during a valuation visit or at another arranged time. For larger items and collections we can recommend a specialist carrier for you.
Once your items have been valued and you wish to sell with us, you will be asked to complete a 'Property Receipt and Contract'.
To enter your items into one of our auctions you will also need to provide ID. This is to comply with existing Anti-Money Laundering Regulations. All our clients need to provide proof of name and address by providing a government issued form of photo identification (plastic card element of a driving licence, or passport) and a utility bill.
We charge a commission which is deducted from the hammer price when your item sells.
For our Seasonal Auctions the fee is 15% + VAT + £10 for photography and marketing.
For monthly Antiques and Interiors Auctions the fee is 21% + VAT
All fees are subject to VAT at the current rate.
There are no additional charges and no unsold lot fees.
