Lest We Forget – Remembrance Day 11th November 2020 – we take time to remember and honour those who sacrificed so much in the fight for our freedom.
Halls Fine Art will be offering at auction works by famous war poet Wilfred Owen on Wednesday 9th December.
Wilfred Edward Salter Owen (1893-1918) born in Oswestry, Shropshire, is known as one of the leading British poets of the World War 1. His haunting war poetry focused upon the horrors of the trenches and conditions during World War One which were in stark contrast to the contemporary public perception of the war effort. Owen was killed in action during the crossing of the Sambre-Oise Canal, just one week before the signing of the Armistace.
Among his best-known works are ‘Dulce et Decorum est’, ‘Anthem for Doomed Youth’, ‘Futility’, ‘Strange Meeting’ and ‘Spring Offensive’.
The online catalogue and e-catalogue for this auction will be available from 26th November.
