Our team of experts are looking forward to a packed calendar of auctions in 2021

With 2020 out of the way, our team of experts are looking forward to the much-anticipated Spring Auction with some excellent items in the catalogue!

21/01/2021

Many people will be relieved to see the back of a very tough 2020, for most, it has been a challenging year and one that will never be forgotten. Despite the uncertain times, at Halls fine art, we have been lucky enough to conduct most auctions as planned, albeit in a slightly different way. We achieved some great results throughout the year and are delighted to be able to say that our first specialist sale of 2021 is already filling up with a host of treasures to tempt all tastes. Looking forward, our specialists give a preview of what we can expect to see in our much-anticipated Spring auction.

Maryanne Lineker-Mobberley, our Silver and Jewellery Specialist commented “Already consigned is a stunning Art Deco diamond and sapphire brooch. Designed as a tapering elongated bar with striking blue sapphires and white diamonds it epitomises the timeless style of the era. Also offered for sale, is a striking 1970’s textured link bracelet. Jewellery from this decade has increased in popularity over the past 10 years and is still going strong. Within the silver section of the sale is a 1970’s Asprey five-piece tea and coffee service. A retailer often associated with Royalty, the name Asprey always proves popular at auction.”

Alexander Clements, Senior Valuer and Asian Art Specialist added “Asian art is still a strong area of the market, particularly Chinese objects, and I am very excited about what will emerge in 2021 during valuations.  Coming up in our March auction is a beautiful Qianlong mark and period blue and white vase decorated with scholars, expected to achieve £1,000-1,500.  In the same auction, Japanese art is well represented too with a single-owner collection of Satsuma pottery, including examples by the celebrated Kinkozan studio.”A beautiful Qianlong mark and period blue and white vase decorated with scholars.
