A collection of Tekno limited edition and Corgi truck models owned by a Welsh borders vendor sold for nearly £3,000 at the May Yoys Auction.
Top selling lots from the latest collection were two Tekno limited edition models of a DAF in the livery of Kay Transport and a Scania in the livery of Astran European Transport sold for £210 and a Tekno UK Collectors Club special edition No.4 Scania in the livery of Robert Burns made £150.
The collector also saw a group of four boxed Corgi 50th anniversary articulated trucks in the livery of various hauliers fetch £180.
“These limited edition and collectors club truck models are in high demand not just from haulage company owners and lorry drivers but also from collectors in general,” said Toys specialist Stewart Orr. “There is a thriving second hand collectors market for them”.
A collection of rare Triang railway sets from around the world also went under the hammer, making £2,500 for the South East England collector. Pick of the prices was £350 for an Australian NSWR Suburban electric train set while a number of Triang R-56 4-6-4 tank locomotives, made in New Zealand, UK and South Africa, sold to a peak of £170.
A live steam, gauge two train set comprising a 4-4-0 tank locomotive and carriages sold for £380.
The next Toy event features in the Interiors and Toy Auction on the 26th November for which entries are invited until the 3rd November.
