Silver & Jewellery

Halls Silver and Jewellery Department hosts four auctions annually at our flagship Battlefield saleroom in Shrewsbury as part of our Seasonal calendar of events. Over the years we have had the opportunity to offer some beautiful and rare objects, achieving many impressive results along the way. Just a few of the highlights include a graduated amber bead necklace which sold for £22000, a pear cut diamond pendant which realised £118000, a Liberty & Co shagreen, silver and enamel box that reached £10500 and an early 18th century Dutch silver tea caddy which made £7400 (excluding BP).

From contemporary and modern designer pieces by jewellery and silversmiths such as Andrew Grima, Elizabeth Gage, Georg Jensen, Eric Clements and Stuart Devlin to the important period masters like Wartski, Cartier, Garrards, Boucheron, Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany & Co, Paul Storr and Faberge, the department is experienced with cataloguing, photographing and selling all styles and ages of jewellery and silver.

Our resident jewellery specialist, Maryanne, is both a fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and a qualified diamond grader, achievements gained through three years of study while working full time. Combining this, with over eight years’ experience in the auction industry, you can be assured, whether you’re a buyer or vendor, that all facets of jewellery are assessed with confidence and knowledge.

Our specialist silver and jewellery auctions regularly attract both private and trade buyers and are one of the most popular events in Halls’ calendar. Hosting two weekday viewing events together with weekend opening hours prior to sale day we cater for all potential buyers. In addition to this, all auctions are active online, providing not only prospective purchasers from around the world the chance to bid, but also providing vendors with the assurance that their items are given the maximum exposure to the international market thus enabling Halls to achieve the most competitive prices.
