Halls’ European Ceramics and Glass department offer's a range of specialist ceramic and glassware in four seasonal dedicated sales each year and benefit from illustrated and specially prepared individual catalogues. These are held alongside monthly antiques and interiors auctions. All sales are hosted and sold online as well as at our headquarters in Battlefield, Shrewsbury.
The department head Caroline Dennard has a special area of interest in 18th century English porcelain, and a personal passion which has helped to create many outstanding results such as £11,000 + buyers’ premium for a rare Bow porcelain group of the ‘Fortune Teller’ and the securement of important single owner collections such as the Wright Collection of Caughley porcelain. Caroline has worked in the business for many years and is incredibly skilled at identifying/attributing, dating and valuing unsigned, or unmarked works.
Our Fine European Porcelain, Pottery and Glass auctions are host to a wide number of works from the 18th to 21st centuries, to include English and Dutch delftware, Continental porcelain from important factories such as Sèvres and Meissen and English pottery and porcelain such as Staffordshire, Caughley, Chelsea, Bow and Worcester, among others. As specialists in 18th, 19th and 20th century glass, we are also keen to expand this section and are eager to consign pieces from George III drinking glasses to contemporary decorative glassware by the likes of Stevens and Williams, James Powell and Sons, Whitefriars and René Lalique.
Arts and Crafts and Art Deco ceramics are also incredibly popular at auction, and highlight lots in the past have been from top makers such as the Martin Brothers, Moorcroft, Shelley, Royal Doulton, Ruskin and others.
With Halls, you can rest assured that our experienced team of specialists will research each piece to ensure it is not only placed in the appropriate sale but that it achieves the highest level of exposure and generates the best possible price at auction.
