Second Boer War. A photograph album compiled by Major Macready, 2nd Gordon Highlanders, circa 1901-02
Photographs captioned either to the reverse in pencil or below, scenes include British troops and those loyal to Schalk Willem Burger; Long Tom Carriages; 2nd Gordon Highlander's camps; several pages titled 'Zululand' depicting various groups of Zulu people and their homes, together with several professional photographs comprising a group shot of the Boer Commando at Christiana (Transvaal border town) by M. Bennett and several taken by Dutch photographer, Jan van Hoepen including the marked State Model School Pretoria building from which Winston Churchill and Col. A. Haldane escaped.

Condition Report

Album missing rear board and spine, front board is detached. Pages are now loose as a consequence. The boards are very worn. Some of the larger photographs are creased/folded and/or damaged. Some pages with tears to corners. The large photograph of Boer Commandos has a tear.
