Royal Engineers attributed group of medals and a sword (Sgt. Major A.J Sanford)

Royal Engineers group related to Sergeant Major A.J Sanford
comprising a Boer War QSA named to "25896 SERJT. A. J SANFORD, R.E." and Edward VII LSGC medal, named to "25896 S. MJR SANFORD", with matching pair of miniatures; and a George V 1897 Pattern Royal Engineers sword, named to A.J Sanford, retailed by G E Carrington, Old Brompton, Kent, serial number 5694, the blade etched with regimental crest and foliate motifs, with wire-bound black rayskin grip and a leather sword knot, blade length 32.5", complete with both the field service scabbard with an outer cover, further named to 'A.J Sanford', and a nickel plated steel dress scabbard.

Notes: Medal Rolls for the QSA show A.J Sanford served with the 43rd Company Royal Engineers during the Boer War, and by 1914, Army lists show he is serving with the Coast Battalion. Probable death date of 26th February 1924.
