George IV 1822 Pattern Infantry Officer's sword by Salter

A George IV early 1822 Pattern Infantry Officer's levee sword by Salter, Sword Cutler and Jeweller to H.R.H the Duke of Sussex (35 Strand Street, London)
circa 1822-24
with a wire-bound shagreen grip and pierced fixed guard with GR IV cypher, the single-edged pipeback slightly curved blade etched with manufacturers details to the forte together with George IV Royal Cypher and the personalised initials 'G.R.R', housed in the original leather and brass scabbard with two loose suspension rings and further matching manufacturers details,
blade length 81.5cm, overall length 96cm

Notes: Salter was at 35, Strand from 1801 to 1824 which together with the institution date of this pattern, helps to rather narrowly date the early production of this sword.
