comprising 1914-15 Star named to "13516 SJT. W.J. BATHURST., S. STAFF. R.", 1914-18 War Medal and Victory Medal, named to "Capt. W.J Bathurst" and Military Cross, unnamed as issued, in original case. (4)
Sold together with copies of medal records and his citation for the M.C which reads, 'During active operations, he sent valuable reports, obtained by personal reconnaissance at great risk. Later, his company went through a village under a terrific fire from machine guns. He showed remarkable courage on this occasion and was dangerously wounded'. Gazetted 29th November 1919.
Notes: William John Bathurst was entitled to the 1914-15 Star with the Staffordshire Regiment before transferring to the Cheshire Regiment and being awarded the War Medal, Victory Medal and Military Cross.
