Minton parian figure of Dorothea

A Minton parian figure of Dorothea, shape 189,
designed by John Bell, with a relief moulded Victorian registration lonzenge and 'John Bell', impressed marks,
35cm high

Originally made for Summerly's Art Manufactures and registered on 4th October 1847, also made for the Art Union of London. Shown by Minton at the Great Exhibition, 1851, Dorothea was a best seller within two months of its introduction and continued to sell well over the next forty years.

Condition Report
Firing crack to the base, further hairline to the underside of the figure and numerous black marks/scuffs to body. Please see additional images.
