NIGHTINGALE, Florence, nursing pioneer (1820-1910)
Autograph letter signed to Dr De'Ath. She mentions Sir Harry: 'His loss to me is incalculable, but to his own family more than incalculable.' She encloses a paper and asks for its early return. 'I am sorry that the people of the Claydons are clamouring not for health but for nursing lectures - as if that could be taught practically by lecturer... I have been almost entirely a prisoner to my bed for 14 months and still am, and this has kept me from Claydon. (Added in pencil) My doctor would not let me stir.' On mourning paper. 4 sides, 1894.
