Condition Report
The painting is an oil on canvas, the canvas has been relined and is not signed. The paint surface has craquelure throughout but appears stable and there is no obvious evidence for deterioration of the paint. There is a hole in the canvas above the horses heads measuring 2 cm with surface loss, there are also two dents upper right- one with surface loss. There is a repair patch verso in line with the chestnut horse's tail- there is a chip to the paint surface in this area with loss. There is dirt throughout and surface level accretions. The painting has some scuffs and roughness around the edges of the canvas. There is a scratch with chip to the paint surface in the tree to the top left. A dent is present in the boots of the right male figure.
