A small archive of photographs and pictures relating to Charles George Blomfield (British architect, XIX-XX), including: a signed portrait of Bikaner Maharaja Ganga Singh, dated 1929, gelatin silver print laid on board, 30cm x 21cm; a group portrait of the Viceroy and Vicerine Lord & Lady Willingdon with their staff, construction supervisors and some of the architects engaged in the building of New Delhi, gelatin silver print laid on board, 17cm x 29cm; an Indian girl's school group photograph, gelatin silver print laid on board, 23cm x 28cm; and two near Eastern landscape studies, pencil and watercolour on paper, signed in pencil C Blomfield and dated 1865, 13cm x 21cm and 13cm x 19cm.

Provenance: Flora Christina Blomfield (wife of Charles George Blomfield), thence by descent to the vendor.

Footnote:

Footnote: Charles George Blomfield was an architect who travelled to India in 1913 and based himself there until retirement in 1951, working with Edwin Lutyens on the planning and development of New Delhi and is credited with designing many of the bungalows in the scheme. He met and befriended Flora Christina, our vendor's aunt, on one journey by ship between Britain and India, later marrying her.
