First World War Military Cross group awarded to Lieutenant G.K. Mowle (Cheshire Regt)

A First World War Military Cross awarded to Lieutenant G.K. Mowle (Cheshire Regiment - 5th Bn (T.F), attd. 15th Bn).
unnamed, in the original box of issue, together with his group of miniatures, comprising the M.C together with British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1939-45 Defence medal.

Sold together with supporting documents relating to the recipient, including original newspaper clippings, a Royal Air Force Training Transfer Card, Protection Certificate and further photocopied paperwork including service records and family photographs of Lieutenant Kendel Mowle etc.

Lieutenant Geoffrey Kendel Mowle, 15th and 5th Cheshire Regiment landed in France on 8th March 1917. The citation for Kendel Mowle's M.C reads: 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He led his men with great dash in the attack; he was the first into the enemy's trenches and immediately attacked the enemy with the bayonet. He afterwards reorganised his command and led them forward as covering party. Throughout the day he showed great coolness and was at once on the spot where any danger was apprehended.' Mowle was later transferred to the RAF.
