A 19th century Chinese hardwood stationary box, likely commissioned for the European market, the hinged cover with a vacant white metal cartouche, opening to reveal a divisional interior, the top and base bordered with shallow carved moulding, cornered with Cantonese type carved and pierced mounts decorated with dragons, raised on four generous paw feet, 16.5 cm high, 31 x 17.5 cm.
