Bernardus Johannes Blommers (Bloomers) (Dutch, 1845-1914), Mother and child in an interior, unsigned, old label reattached to later back, later frame, 32 x 24cm

Bernardus Johannes Blommers studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in the Hague, with his first exhibition in 1869 alongside Israels. He is known for his delicate, emotive landscapes and genre pieces, but is most celebrated for his depictions of families and disherfolk in their daily life.
