A German Third Reich Luftwaffe visor cap - Hermann Göring Division

A reproduction German Third Reich Luftwaffe Hermann Göring Division EM/NCO visor cap
constructed of blue/grey doeskin with a black ribbed centre band, with Luftwaffe national emblem to the front of the cap and winged oak leaves cockade, white piping and a black leather chinstrap, the interior underside of peak in green and complete with brown substitute leather sweatband, stamped twice with '16./ Rgt. Gen. Göring' in black, with a dark blue rayon interior, the band with enamelled ‘K P’ badges, protection sweat diamond missing

The evolution of the Regiment General Göring can be traced back to at least January 12th1934 when the Landes Polizei Gruppe Wecke z.b.V, (State Police Group Wecke for Special Purposes) was renamed Landes Polizei Gruppe General Göring. On September 23rd 1935 the Landes Polizei Gruppe General was transferred from control of the Police to control of the Luftwaffe and was renamed as Regiment General Göring.

The Hermann Göring Division was virtually completely destroyed in North Africa in May 1943 and the survivors were reformed into the Hermann Göring Panzer Division on July 15th 1943. On January 6th 1944 the Hermann Göring Panzer Division was re-designated Hermann Göring Fallschirm-Panzer Division and was used as a cadre for the formation of the Hermann Göring Fallschirm-Panzer Korps in September 1944. Regulations of January 4th 1943 introduced assorted branch of service colors for certain specialized personnel of the Division Hermann Göring but the white piping remained on the visor caps.
