A World War I medal pair, awarded to '37829 PTE A. O'Connell S. Wales Bord', together with a World War I trio awarded to 'R.M.B. 982 Mus J.S. Owens'

J.S Owens served as a Musician with the Royal Marines Band Service onboard HMS Queen Mary. The ship was sadly lost, along with its crew, at the Battle of Jutland in 1916 after being hit twice by the German ship Derrflinger and suffering a magazine explosion near the start of the battle. J.S. Owens is commemorated on a memorial at the Royal Naval School of Music dedicated to those who trained at the school lost their lives during the First World War.
