percussion action, dated 1856, with ramrod, lock plate stamped with a "crown/VR" behind the hammer and "1856/TOWER", with a three-band sighted barrel with proof marks together with War Department acceptance marks on a single band to the barrel and to the lockplate, indistinct markings to left-hand side of the stock together with impressed numbers 1339, barrel length 99cm, overall length 138cm
