A Victorian 16th (The Queen’s) Lancers Other Ranks Full Dress Lance Cap or Chapka
Constructed of a black patent leather skull and similar top with ribbed cloth side panels with yellow orris cord trim, a waistband of yellow and red linen. Complete with a red woollen rosette plume holder with a central button, supporting a white horsehair plume, and a brass chin chain (a.f) with a cotton and leather backing supported by lion mask mounts to either side. The die-stamped bronze helmet plate with battle honours. Interior of the helmet dated 1884, complete with black leather sweatband and waxed cotton lining (worn).
