Michael D'Aguilar (1924-2016) British 20th-21st Century, was born in London with Spanish heritage. He spent much of his early life in Spain before returning to England to study at the Royal Academy Schools 1949-1954 during which he won the Leverhulme Scholarship. His preferred mediums were oils and watercolour, with landscapes, townscapes and animals his subjects of choice. In addition to his painting, he also worked as an art restorer. D'Aguilar had a number of successful one man shows and won the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at the Royal Drawing Society as well as the Silver medal and Armitage award at the Royal Academy. His artwork is characterised by rapid brushstrokes and texture, with dramatic colour combinations and ability to capture the feeling of movment within his subjects.

Condition Report

The painting is an oil on board, mounted and framed without glazing. The paint condition is excellent, the surface is stable and there does not appear to be any visible craquelure or paint loss. There are a couple of small non-invasive accretions. The frame is in good condition with solid joints, some very minor wear and tear in the corners but no visible losses. The hanging is also present.
