Footnote:

The Wanli ship wreck was discovered off the east coast of Malaysia by fishermen in 1997. A salvage expedition led by Sten Sjorstrand revealed that the craft was a Portuguese Shalupa of the Ming Dynasty, Wanli era, carrying Kraak porcelain which was recovered. The present lot was purchased from one of the dive team, Darren Watson, by Ian Rogers of Drove House Antiques. The present vendor subsequently acquired the dish from Rogers.
