A French Violin by Jules Remy, Mirecourt, circa 1850-80
Labelled In urbae Cremona REMY, length of back 360mm (14 3/16in), numbered 88850 beside end pin, of honey colour throughout, rosewood tuning pegs, later chinrest and modern tailpiece, with recent fitted carrying case and together with two bows: A German silver mounted bow stamped for Auguste Rau, circa 1866; and a silver mounted bow stamped Hawkes & Son. (3)

Condition Report

Violin: Immediately playable condition. Appears to have been aged. Top has old patinated scratches. Some minor dings to the purfelling. Back fair, single piece with good colour and figuring.
Bows: Both have minor signs of age and use but in fine working order.
