ANNOTATED DIARY OF THE WEATHER. Rider's British Merlin for 1771. With brief manuscript notes on the weather for every day of the year, e.g. 'December 8. Fine Day. Heavy rain at night and high wind. 9. Rainy morning. 10. Mild. 11. Fine. Heavy rain at night and remarkable high wind. 12. Fine. Frost at night.' Bound up with the Annual Kalendar. With a similar vol recording the weather every day for 1776 (12 Aug 1776 Great Flood in Corve), and another vol for 1779 with only a few notes (This year remarkable for the very hot summer; universal failure of apples; great quantities of mushroom and every kind of fungus. In Herefordshire no hops). Ownership signature of Thomas Mytton in each vol, probably a Shropshire farmer as there are several references to getting the harvest in. Bindings worn (3).
