Condition Report

Generally, the condition is good with no obvious signs of serious damages or repairs. The earlier, pearlware toby jug with the yellow base has a couple of tiny glaze flakes/surface abrasions to the brim of his hat, a small nibble to the rim of his jug, a section of paint loss to the tip of his nose and a small flat chip to the underside of the base.

The second toby jug has a firing crack to the side of one leg, alongside a faint hairline running down the centre of the same leg. There is some general paint loss, particularly to the buttons on his coat. There is some further paint rubbing/wear to the reddish-brown paint on the reverse and also remnants of an old paper label to the handle. This jug also has a small fleabite to the base.

Bidding indicates acceptance of the condition of the lot.  All lots are sold subject to general wear and tear commensurate with age and handling over time and only obvious faults will be mentioned after a visual inspection. If you have particular specialist questions on any lot, please state these before bidding since we cannot and will not provide a forensic examination of any lot but only a general condition report as a guide only.
