An extensive Copeland armorial part dinner service, mid-19th century
painted with armorial crest below the motto 'Form' between with pink banded and gilded borders,
the service comprising 51 dinner plates, 26cm, 17 medium dinner plates, 22.5cm diameter, 17 soup plates, 26cm diameter, seven variated meat platters, 4 sauce tureen stands and 1 low twin-handled comport, printed factory marks in green (qty) (minor damages, one plate a.f)

See 'The British herald, or Cabinet of Armorial Bearings of the Nobility and Gentry' by Thomas Robson where the entry for Bart Reid [Ewell Grove, Surrey and Graystone Park Dumfries 10th November 1823] describes a family crest of a castle surmounted by two spears and the family motto 'Firm'.

Condition Report

Generally: Some surface scratches to the plates, approximately 15%-20% of the service is rubbed.

Six medium plates have rim chips
One tureen stand has stapled repairs
Two soup plates are chipped, one soup plate is cracked
Three large plates have foot rim chips, two large plates have rim chips, two large plates are cracked, one large plate is cracked and chipped, one large plate is in several pieces, one large plate has a hairline (so ten large plates overall are a.f)
One small platter has had old stapled repairs which have been removed
