Footnote:Sir Peter Markham Scott (1909-1989) was a British Ornithologist and painter, the son of Antarctic explorer Robert Scott. Peter Scott was founding President of the Society of Wildlife Artists and the President of Nature in Art. He is most famous for his paintings of wildlife, in particular of birds. He established the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust in 1946, which was instrumental in helping to save the Hawaiian Goose from extinction, and he also founded the World Wide Fund for Nature. He led many ornithological expeditions worldwide, becoming a TV personality, in 2004 a BBC documentary profiled Scott and David Attenborough as two of the most influential wildlife presenters who changed the way the British public view wildlife. In 1973 he was knighted for his services to Conservation of wild animals.
