In 1969 Hockney created a series of etchings to illustrate six of his favourite stories from the Brothers Grimms Fairy Tales. He chose to use the clear lines of etching to reflect the simple, direct style of language used in these childhood stories.

Condition Report

The etching is a work on paper, framed under glazing, not examined external to the frame. It has full margins and a visible platemark. There is some minor cockling at the bottom of the paper. The paper is well preserved and does not show obvious signs of deterioration and does not show visible evidence of any rips, creases or folds. Frame has general wear and tear.
