Printed document with manuscript insertions, four sides, folio, applying for a patent on an improved method of raising securing and securing ships masts, an invention he believes 'will be of much benefit and utility'.

Signed at the top of the document by King George IV and at the conclusion by Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, 3rd Marquess of Lansdowne, Secretary of State for the Home Department and British statesman.
