The Summer Auction

  Lot 234

Ellen Ladell (British, 1853-1928), a study of taxidermy in a glass dome

Ellen Ladell (British, 1853-1928 ), a study of taxidermy in a glass dome, on a marble topped table with roses and a bird’s nest, signed on left of marble slab, oil on canvas, 46cm x 36cm, frame 66 x 58 cm

Footnote:

Ellen Ladell painted in a very similar style to her husband, Edward Ladell (1821-1886), who was well known for his still lives. Edward Ladell generally used the same props, fruit, flowers and sometimes a bird's nest or another object, on a marble slab. It is thought that they collaberated together on many works.

Sold for £1,800
