Two Japanese lacquer four-case inro

Unsigned, Meiji period

The first dark brown and lacquered in gold with a carp leaping beneath a bamboo branch, the interior in red, with bone oni mask netsuke, 7.5cm, the second red and deeply carved with repeating flowers and foliage, with porcelain ojime, 9.5cm. (2)

Condition Report

The first: surface chipping and wear to case edges. Tachiagari of second case chipped and cracked. General surface wear and signs of age.


The second: chips and lacquer losses to himotoshi on both sides. Some chips to case edges. Wear to tachiagari throughout.
