A private English collector, all bearing Sotheby's Ca Mau - Binh Thuan auction labels, acquired by the present vendor from various sources.

The Ca Mau wreck was discovered in 1998 by Vietnamese fishermen near the southernmost province of the country. Believed to have sunk after it caught fire, the ship was bound for Batavia (now Jakarta), laden with ceramics for the Dutch market in around 1725. The cache of 76,000 pieces of blue and white porcelain were first offered on the market at Sotheby's Amsterdam rooms in 2007.
