An archive of photographs of China and Chinese life
Taken and assembled by Lionel Jupp (1878-1951) during the 1910s-20s, including a series depicting an amateur theatrical performance cast with Chinese household staff. Further images of people and places around Shanghai and Tientsin, military parades, the Great Wall of China and the Temple of Heaven, Peking. Together with four portraits of Lionel Jupp himself and a small quantity of commercially produced photographs.

Condition Report
Main album is missing spine and has other wear to the covers.  Images inside album have survived well.  Loose images and portraits vary but are largely good, some have faded.  General signs of age throughout.

Bidding indicates acceptance of the condition of the lot.  All lots are sold subject to general wear and tear commensurate with age and handling over time and only obvious faults will be mentioned after a visual inspection.
