A Caughley custard cup and cover, circa 1785-90, the cup with circular section stand-off loop handle, with projecting upper terminal, cover with button knop, transfer-printed in underglaze blue with the Cottage pattern within cell borders, SX mark, 9cm high See The Darwin County online collection, which has a custard cup and cover in the same pattern and where it is noted that 'Cottage is a very rare Chinese-style design, shown here on a custard cup used, as its name suggests, to hold custard.
