Condition Report

The painting is an oil on canvas, framed without glazing. The canvas has a previous tear with surface repair to the sitter's right shoulder (patch is visible verso). There is a further repair of an old tear to an area above the sitter's left shoulder. The paint surface has craquelure throughout, which appears overall stable. THere are general surface dirt and accretions present. Some bubbling of the varnish in the neck area. Frame has general wear and tear, joints are sound
