TICKET FOR THE CORONATION OF GEORGE III in Westminster Abbey on September 22nd 1761. Approximately 250 mm by 255mm. The reserved seat is in the first gallery on the north side. Framed and glazed.
Notes: George III inherited the throne when his grandfather George II died suddenly in October 1760. A bride was found for him in Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Charlotte arrived in London on the afternoon of the 8th September 1761 and was married to George that evening in the Chapel Royal at St James Palace. A fortnight later on the 22nd September, George and Charlotte were crowned in Westminster Abbey. They had a happy marriage and Charlotte bore him 15 children. George III reigned for 59 years, although the last decade of his life was marred by insanity.
