Footnote:Peter la Cave was baptised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 1769, probably born to a French family living in Holland. He was a painter famous for rustic figures and landscapes in the Bergham tradition. He visited the UK between 1789-1812 painting locations around Southern England, including around Wilton where he was imprisoned during 1811. A friend and influence of Julius Caesar Ibbetson. Much of the details of his life are unknown, but he is reknowned for his depictions of cattle.
