Footnote:

Rev. William Henry Barnard (1769-1818) was an 18th century artist and clergyman. He was well connected as cousin to Prime Minister George Canning as well as being related to the Bishops of Derry and Limerick. He graduated from Pembroke College in Oxford, studying drawing under John Baptist Malchair. He is known for his watercolours in black and grey shades, travelling around the Continent and Wales to paint. His work is represented in a number of important collections including the Tate.
