A Chinese painted fan by Tang Zeqing (Taing Jse Ching)

A Chinese painted fan by Tang Zeqing (Taing Jse Ching), to one side painted with a flowering peony branch and to the other with 28 lines of verse on a gilt ground, ink and watercolour on paper with bone sticks, signed, 17.5cm x 31cm (open).

Provenance: James Russell Henderson, professor of Chemistry at Tongwen Guan, Beijing, from 1878-1924, thence by descent to the vendor.
