Purchased on the 11th of March 2013 from the artist at The Gallery, The Art School, Shrewsbury School, Kingsland, Shrewsbury, SY3 7BA.

Born in Kent in 1929, John Alford studied at Camberwell School of Art under Gilbert Spencer and Bernard Dunstan. Exhibiting at the RA, Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal West of England Academy, he has been elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and the New English Art Club. He has exhibited in the UK, South Africa, U.S.A., Canada and France. The Royal Navy and the Canadian Navy have commissioned his work and his works are in many private and public collections. John Alford specialises in Shropshire pastoral scenes and marine scenes.
