Provenance: consigned from a private local collection who purchased from the Goldmark Gallery

Hockney found inspiration as a teenager in the writings of Greek-Egyptian poet Constantine Cavafy (1863-1933) and created a suite of thirteen very intimate etchings reflecting Cavafy's powerful reflections on homosexual desire.

Condition Report
The etching is a work on paper, framed under glazing, not examined external to the frame. The paper appears in good condition, with no obvious evidence for rips, creasing or folds. There is some minor cockling on the left edge (as photographed). There is one spot of foxing to the centre-left edge and another on the cheek of the sitter. The print has full margins. General wear and tear to the frame
