WAIN, Claire. Seven original pencil drawings by Claire Wain drawn in 1926, one of which is in colour, all but one of cats. 5 are 170mm x 135mm; one is 168mm by 211mm, and the other 250mm by 152mm. With 3 Louis Wain postcards. Claire Wain (1868 - 1945) was a sister of Louis Wain (1860 - 1939). Louis Wain was the eldest of 6 children and only male child. None of his five sisters married. Claire was the fifth child and last surviving member of the family.

Provenance: The drawings are in an envelope (postmarked 1999) on which is written: 'Drawings done by Claire Wain for me (aged 7 years) whilst she was demonstrating Royal Sovereign Pencils at the British Industries Fair on their Exhibition Stand (one way of keeping me quiet)
