An impressive Elizabeth II silver model of a snow leopard by Mappin & Webb

An impressive Elizabeth II silver model of a snow leopard by Mappin & Webb, Birmingham 1993, limited edition number 5 of only 9, naturalistically modelled as a snow leopard climbing a stylised rocky outcrop, 78cm high (filled), originally purchased at the Manchester Mappin & Webb store, with accompanying original Mappin & Webb insurance valuation dated 04/01/1994

Note: The very small edition size of 9 items is unusual and, according to Mappin & Webb when the leopard was purchased by the present vendor, others in the series were reputedly acquired by prominent collectors, including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Although not in the current Royal Collections, it may have been purchased as an outgoing diplomatic gift, though records do not exist to confirm this.

The original sculptor of this model was Nick Bibby on behalf of Country Artists from Stratford-Upon-Avon and is called 'Spirit of the Snows'

Sold for £5,000
