Bernard Winskill was a modeller for the Royal Worcester porcelain works from 1968 onwards, producing sculpture for both porcelain and bronze production. His contract with the firm allowed for the use of the company foundry in Severn Street to manufacture his own commissions. It is believed that only three examples of the present lot were made: No.1 was for the owner of Balidar, No.2 for the trainer and No.3 was kept by Winskill himself.
