A George III lacquered brass reflecting telescope by Francis Watkins

A George III lacquered brass reflecting telescope by Francis Watkins, late 18th century, with 23.5” long body tube, inscribed to the end 'Fra Watkins Charing Cross London', with eye piece extension tube and screw rod focusing adjustment and spoked vertical half circle, vertical adjustment raised on an octagonal baluster column and three fold out cabriole legs and with dust cap, the case with two eye pieces and mirror, 70cm long including eye piece, 54cm high, contained within a mahogany case with gilt brass carrying handles and divisioned interior, 68cm long, 26.5cm wide, 20cm high

The mirrors are dim and obscured so the telescope does not appear to work. The box is damaged. General wear and tear commensurate with age and daily use
