A pair of carved bone 'Knockaloe' POW artworks

A pair of carved bone 'Knockaloe' prisoner of war artworks, each carved in low relief with a figure beneath a band of flowers and foliage, to the reverse on one inscribed 'KNOCKALOE' and to the other with 'WORLD WAR' to a shield cartouche, set on shaped oak bases, 21.5cm high. (2)

Footnote:

Knockaloe was an internment camp on the Isle of Man during the First World War. Between 1914 and 1919 it housed 23,000 prisoners and 3,000 guards. It had previously served as a military training camp.
