A 19th century stained pine ‘witches’ box, the lid inscribed 'Anne + Gray', the interior containing items associated with witchcraft including various bones, a small goat skull, feathers, hair, honeycomb, a bird's nest (now fragmented), acorns, herbs, a small stone hart, a small mixing spoon and a glass witches ball, 30.5cm wide.
Footnote:Footnote: The history of Anne Gray and her activities as a witch are not recorded. It has been speculated that she was a descendant of Alice Gray (aka Alice Grey) who was one of the infamous Pendle witches.
